Ollie Watkins’ situation at Aston Villa is being watched by Arsenal, who may make a significant bid for him this summer.
The England international has scored 11 goals in his previous 12 outings. Thereby, helping Unai Emery’s Villans move up to sixth place in the Premier League. Erling Haaland is the only player to have scored more league goals since the World Cup. His goals have helped the Midlands team aim for European football next season.
However, with contract negotiations looming for Watkins. A number of clubs, including the one he views as his ideal team, could intervene to entice him away from Aston Villa.
According to Football Insider, talks between Villa and Watkins are reportedly set. Although Arsenal have a history of interest and are keeping an eye on the situation. This is in anticipation of maybe adding another striker this summer.
Watkins certainly fits the bill for the “physical” forward the Gunners are allegedly looking to add to their attack this summer. The 27-year-old is also enthusiastic about the Gunners.
“That’s the dream to play for Arsenal one day. But it’s a long shot.” Watkins said at the London Football Awards in 2020.
According to the source, Villa are interested in a second center-forward and a winger as Unai Emery attempts to move Villa up the table.
But with teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur allegedly all seeking for a striker this summer. Watkins is expected to get interest from a lot of top clubs.
