Arsene Wenger, former Arsenal manager, has unexpectedly gone to Manchester City’s rescue in their legal dispute with the Premier League.
City is facing 115 allegations related to alleged Financial Fair Play violations between 2009 and 2018.
According to Mail Sport’s Mike Keegan, the reigning champions won a significant victory earlier this month following a landmark ruling in a different, unrelated dispute.

A panel of retired judges determined that the Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules and its owners violate the Competition Act.
The trial is scheduled to last several months, and Wenger believes the issue has escalated.
He told beIN SPORTS: ‘I believe the Premier League’s current Financial Fair Play rules need to be altered.
‘Because they now compete with other leagues that have updated their Financial Fair Play standards.
‘At the moment, you cannot hear a club like Manchester City being accused with 115 separate counts within a football season. I do not believe in that.
The Premier League has already lost one case, the first against them. I don’t know [City], so I can’t criticize them.
‘I just think that with 115 different allegations against a football club today, it appears like we are in an international administration.
‘The Financial Fair Play regulations need to be revised and simplified.
They [the City owners] came in and had not faced any Financial Fair Play, nor had Chelsea.
‘Chelsea acquired my players [from Arsenal], and Chelsea bought what they wanted because there were no Financial Fair Play regulations.
