Arsenal Legend Claims Man United ‘Overhyped’ Star Is Creating Issues At The Club

In the wake of the Red Devils’ humiliating Premier League loss, Martin Keown has highlighted the Man United summer acquisition that he feels has undermined Ruben Amorim’s team.

On Sunday afternoon, Amorim’s team traveled to north London to meet Tottenham, another Big Six struggling team, in the bottom half. They lost 1-0 to Ange Postecoglou’s team.

James Maddison, who is back, scored a goal in the 13th minute to defeat the visitors, who now sit in 15th place in the standings following a challenging weekend.

Even though they are now far from a relegation battle, Man United is only two points ahead of West Ham, who are currently in 16th position.

They still have work to do next weekend when they visit Goodison Park to take on a revitalized Everton team led by former manager David Moyes.

Keown recommended that one star be taken off the starting lineup for the upcoming Premier League game, reports Mail Online.

Keown lamented the ‘obscene’ sum former manager Erik ten Hag spent on luring Matthijs De Ligt to Old Trafford, and the former Bayern Munich and Ajax player found himself in the firing line following Sunday’s test.

Keown pointed out that some of De Ligt’s decisions have put pressure on the team as a whole, and that he has struggled to establish himself in United’s back line since last summer.
