Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly set to swoop for Bayer Leverkusen defender, Jeremie Frimpong who is expected to leave the club at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Scouts from Arsenal and Liverpool watched Frimpong play during Leverkusen’s match against Borrusia Dortmund at Bay Arena. Despite the match ending in a 1-1 draw, Frimpong put up a strong performance to keep Die Werkself without a loss.
According to 90min as reported by Football Talk, Frimpong is now attracting interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool. He is anticipated to depart Leverkusen in the summer in order to advance his career.
With 17 games played this season, Frimpong has amassed 6 goals and 7 assists. Given his experience and performance for Xabi Alonso’s high-flying Leverkusen team, his £35 million release clause is thought to be moderate.
His 13 goal contributions as a full-back demonstrated the breadth of his ability to provide his team with a number of options, especially offensively.
With Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu being natural center backs and Cedric Soares been frozen out of the team, Arsenal does not currently have an established right back.
Jurrien Timber was signed by the Gunners in the summer with the intention of playing full-back as well. But the Dutchman has not yet played because of an anterior cruciate ligament rupture.

In an effort to shift Trent Alexander-Arnold into the midfield, where he performs best, Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp is searching for a reliable right back. They feel that Frimpong’s skills perfectly complement Klopp’s style of play.
Both clubs are currently in the race to win the Premier League title alongside treble winners, Manchester City. It remains to be seen where Frimpong will end up ahead of next season.
