Arsenal Looking To Sign Potential Midfielder From Juventus

Arsenal has reportedly had a long-standing interest in Weston McKennie, a former Leeds United midfielder.

In the second part of the 2022–2023 season, 25-year-old McKennie made 20 appearances for Leeds in the Premier League. Nevertheless, he was ultimately unable to keep Jesse Marsch’s team in the standings.

However, McKennie, who was valued at £21 million, rejoined Juventus and had a productive season on his own last year, making 38 appearances and dishing up 10 assists.

Additionally, the cited article states that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been monitoring McKennie’s development for a while.

Naturally, rumors state that McKennie is now involved in discussions with Aston Villa, reports TBR Football

Surprisingly, McKennie has now acknowledged that he wasn’t fit enough to perform at his peak while in England.

McKennie struggled to adjust from Italian football when he came on loan to Leeds in January 2023.

“I don’t think my physical fitness was the best because I was so used to being at Juventus and playing every three days,” he remarked, refusing to offer any explanations.

“For me, training fitness is really different from gaming fitness. Playing video games helps me get game fit; you may attempt to do the same in training, but I’m not that good.

“I didn’t feel like I was in the best shape to last a 90-minute game, playing one game a week.”

Naturally, Arsenal would be in a good position to determine whether such concerns about fitness still persist should they decide to make a deal.

If all else fails, though, McKennie—a player with a point to make in England—might be a compelling alternative for Arsenal.
