Arsenal Make Contact To Sign Liverpool Target As Isak Alternative

Arsenal have reportedly made an approach to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward, Hugo Ekitike.

Newcastle United striker, Alexander Isak is already a target for Mikel Arteta’s team, who are looking for a new center-forward.

However, Newcastle’s demand of £150 million for the Sweden international has prompted Arsenal to look at other options.

The Sun claims that Ekitike has become a target for Arsenal and that the Gunners are one of the Premier League teams that have made inquiries about the 22-year-old.

Ekitike, who has scored 19 goals for Frankfurt this season, has also drawn attention from Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich.

Prior to the Bundesliga team finalizing the transfer for €16.5 million (£13.9 million) last summer, Ekitike was first signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in February last year.

According to reports in Germany last week, Frankfurt are expecting Ekitike to leave during the next transfer window because of the high level of demand.

Ekitike scored a hat-trick in France’s U-21s’ 5-3 victory over England during the international break.

The 22-year-old was questioned about his old colleague at Frankfurt, Omar Marmoush, who signed a £59 million contract with Manchester City during the January transfer window.

“I wouldn’t say that I miss him because we have new players who are also very, very good,’ Ekitike said.

“I think he did everything he needed to do here. I’m happy to see him playing in England now. I try to watch his games whenever I can, especially when he’s playing.”
