Arsenal have registered an interest in Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish.
The Gunners made contact with Villa over a deal earlier this season but have not followed up the enquiry, according to Sky Sports.
Any deal for Grealish has been made much more difficult after Villa avoided relegation from the Premier League.
Villa are seeking at least £80m for the 24-year-old, but clubs are hoping to sign him for £50m – £60m.
Even a lowered price is out of Arsenal’s price-range due to the coronavirus pandemic and failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Manchester United have reportedly cooled their interest in Grealish.
The news is welcomed by Villa, who do not want to lose their prized asset as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League.
