Jack Wilshere is reportedly set to miss the start of next season after scans revealed he has broken his leg.
The Arsenal midfielder, who has spent the campaign on loan at Bournemouth, suffered the injury during the Cherries’ 4-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend following what looked like a rather innocuous challenge on Harry Kane.
But according to the Daily Mail, the injury is a lot more severe than initially expected.
Following a CT scan, which are more conclusive than an X-ray, the newspaper explains, Wilshere was shown to have suffered a suspected hairline fracture on the lower part of his fibula.
It is also said that while Wilshere has not received official confirmation of the fracture, the indications are that his leg is broken but is still due to undergo further tests and will see a specialist in the coming days.
It’s a devastating blow for the England international as he’s been a regular in the Bournemouth team so far this season, managing to stay relatively injury free for the first time in a number of years.
