Arsenal Plan Key Sale To Fund La Liga Double Transfer

Arsenal could sell either Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli this summer to fund a double transfer of two La Liga players.

The Gunners’ Premier League title challenge has stalled since the beginning of 2025, owing to an ongoing injury crisis at Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta has been severely limited in terms of offensive options in recent weeks, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus out for the season and Martinelli and Bukayo Saka suffering from hamstring injuries.

Despite his best attempts, Arteta was unable to sign a new attacker during the winter transfer window, and the Spanish coach appears to be out of contention for the title once more.

The club will back Arteta in the market again this summer, but squad sales are required before new faces can join the club, and Martinelli and Trossard have been mentioned in reports from the Daily Mirror.

Both players are garnering serious transfer interest from the Saudi Pro League and could fetch over £40 million, which will be spent elsewhere in the squad.

Arteta has already targeted two players now playing in his home Basque Country: Real Sociedad playmaker Martin Zubimendi and Athletic Club winger Nico Williams.

Zubimendi has apparently changed his mind about not leaving La Real after rejecting Liverpool last summer, and his €51 million release clause remains in place.

Similarly, the links between Barcelona and Williams have cooled in 2025, with Arsenal preparing an offer for the 22-year-old.

Williams also has a release clause in his Bilbao deal worth about €58 million, but his current club will fight to keep him.
