Arsenal’s players were involved in a heated dressing room inquest after their 5-1 mauling at the hands of Bayern Munich, it’s been reported.
The Gunners were humiliated at the Allianz Arena, conceding four second-half goals without reply after a relatively promising first half which ended 1-1. The result means the Round of 16 Champions League tie is effectively already over and the frustration and anger among the players spilled over in the immediate aftermath.
According to the Daily Mail the inquest was led by Arsenal’s senior players.
Captain Laurent Koscielny was forced off with an injury early in the second half and within 14 minutes of him being replaced by Gabriel the Gunners had conceded three goals.
On the pitch leading striker Alexis Sanchez found it impossible to hold in his frustration while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be seen berating his team-mates during the match for an apparent lack of effort.
Arsenal’s season resumes on Monday with a meeting with non-league Sutton United in the FA Cup, the only tournament they can now conceivably win this season.
