Arsenal Plot Move For Monaco Ace Following Scouts Report

Arsenal are reportedly planning a move for Monaco midfielder, Youssouf Fofana after sending scouts to watch him in the French Ligue 1 last season.

The Gunners are eager to bolster their squad this summer and add a midfield partner for Declan Rice after yet another intense race for the Premier League title.

Fabrizio Romano stated in his Daily Briefing that Fofana is one of the options available to the Gunners during the transfer window. The France international is expected to depart Monaco within the next few months as he approaches the last year of his contract.

The 25-year-old, who moved from Strasbourg to Monaco in 2020, has played a major role in each of the Monegasque team’s four Ligue 1 seasons. Former teammate Cesc Fabregas gave him high marks, saying the midfielder is “a very dynamic, strong player, good on the ball, a modern type of player, aggressive, can jump, he’s box to box.

He added: “I really like Fofana and I think he fits very well the Premier League style.”

According to Give Me Sport, a number of European teams are anticipated to be interested in Fofana this summer. Including Manchester United and Arsenal, who trailed the Frenchman the previous season.
