Arsenal are reportedly in talks to bring in David Bentley from Wolverhampton Wanderers as Riccardo Calafiori transfer edges closer than ever.
In the event that deputy Aaron Ramsdale departs this summer, the Gunners are considering backup possibilities for No. 1 David Raya, who signed a permanent contract last week following a £27 million deal from Brentford.
According to the Evening Standard, Bentley, 30, has been identified as a potential target by Arsenal as Ramsdale is set to leave the club if a reasonable offer comes in.
Bentley started his youth career at Arsenal, where he played for seven years until being cut loose in 2008. He also spent time at Brentford with goalie coach Inaki Cana.
Wolves are believed to only consider selling him if a reasonable offer is made that would enable them to reinvest the proceeds back into their team.
In the event that Ramsdale departs this summer, Arsenal would prefer to sign a home-grown goalkeeper.
Calafiori is one of Arsenal’s primary targets as they attempt to add a left-sided defender to their roster.
In negotiations to sign the 22-year-old, who excelled for Italy at Euro 2024, are the Gunners and Bologna.
Calafiori, a versatile player who can play left or center back, is reportedly valued at around £40 million by Bologna.
Bologna hoped to keep Calafiori, but the club’s technical director Giovanni Sartori acknowledged last week that they would entertain serious offers.
“There is talk of Juventus but also of many other teams,” said Sartori.

“At this moment we will try to keep him. If important requests were to arrive we will have to think about it.
“I am not saying that we will sell him, but we will certainly make some evaluations.
