Arsenal are reportedly prepared to pay a £34m transfer fee to sign Granit Xhaka, whose father has already met with Arsene Wenger.
Xhaka has been a key player for Borussia Monchengladbach over the past two seasons, playing in all but nine Bundesliga matches.
However, six of those nine games were missed due to suspension, as the combative midfielder has received four red cards during that period, in addition to 17 yellows.
In 2015/16, no other player across Europe’s top five divisions has been sent off as many times as Xhaka (three).
Nonetheless, Wenger is keen on making a summer move for the Switzerland international, according to Sky Sports Germany.
The source suggests that Xhaka’s father has held a meeting with the French tactician to discuss “concrete details”.
Furthermore, Arsenal are willing to make a €43m (£34m) offer for the 23- year-old, the report claims.
Xhaka joined Monchengladbach in the summer of 2012, leaving hometown club Basel, with whom he’d spent eight years as a youth player and two as a professional.
The 6ft 1in midfielder has been impressive in many areas of his game this term, averaging more defensive actions per league match (five) than any other midfielder at his club.
He has also registered three league goals this season, whilst creating 10 further chances.
Earlier this year, Xhaka stated that his “childhood dream” was a move to the Premier League.
