Arsenal reportedly received a ‘good report’ on Fenerbahce midfielder Ferdi Kadioglu after scouting him on Saturday. While the Gunners were defeated by Newcastle in the Pvremier League, it is believed that one of their scouts watched the versatile Turkey international play against Trabzonspor.
Arsenal’s focus was squarely on the first-team game at St James’ Park. The Magpies won 1-0 thanks to Anthony Gordon’s contentious second-half goal.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was enraged by the decision to accept Gordon’s goal following a long VAR review. Less than 24 hours later, Arsenal supported their manager with a statement demanding an improvement in Premier League officiating standards.

But, while the game was going on, club affairs took precedence. Arsenal has scouts all around Europe, and one of them was in Turkey.
Fenerbahce hosted Trabzonspor in a Super Lig match that began at 4pm and did not conclude until the game versus Newcastle was well underway. According to Turkish outlet Sports Digitale, Arsenal was interested in Kadioglu.
Kadioglu played the entire game as Fenerbahce lost 3-2 to Trabzonspor, with former Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe scoring. According to the report, Arsenal scout Romain Poirot was present and had positive things to say about the 24-year-old.
Kadioglu is a full-back who can play on both sides of the defense,as well as in central midfield. The Dutch-born star joined Fenerbahce in 2018 and has won 13 caps for Turkey to date since making his debut last year.
He has made 164 appearances for Fenerbahce in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and assisting on 20 others. After signing a four-year extension in March 2022, Kadioglu still has two and a half years left on his contract.
He may not be a name familiar to Arsenal supporters, but his profile fits the mold of an Arteta signing. Jurrien Timber is the most recent illustration of Arteta’s interest in versatile players.
