Arsenal have been linked with different types of strikers since the summer transfer window was opened.
Even though as the Gunners scored 91 goals in the Premier League last season, Mikel Arteta still desire to have a natural goal scorer in his squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.
After a sluggish beginning, Kai Havertz—who the club acquired from Chelsea for £65 million last summer—became a vital component of Mikel Arteta’s team. Havertz alternated between playing up front and deeper in midfield under Arteta’s direction.
This summer, another forward is seen to be crucial, but despite connections to a plethora of players, the Gunners have not yet taken any action. Viktor Gyokeres is one of the people who has been closely linked.
With 43 goals and 15 assists in 50 games in all competitions last season, the Sporting CP forward was one of the hottest frontmen in Europe. He was even dubbed Liga Portugal’s Erling Haaland.
He is expensive, though, considering his background and form. The Sweden international has an £86 million release clause, which Sporting CP are eager to receive for their highly sought-after striker.

According to Football London, the Gunners have sent scouts to observe Gyokeres in action during this preseason. The Gunners’ scouts are working all over the world, while the first team are in the United States for their preseason tour.
It remains to be seen if the north-London club will send a formal proposal to Sporting for their star player.
