Arsenal defender, Jakub Kiwior is insistent that he was fouled in the build-up of Brighton and Hove Albion’s first goal. And claims the goal shouldn’t have stood in the first place.
The Gunners were defeated 3-0 on Sunday, effectively ending their chances of winning the Premier League. Julio Enciso, Deniz Undav, and Pervis Estupinan scored the goals for the Seagulls.
Enciso’s second-half goal came as Kiwior was on the ground, holding his ankle and accusing Evan Ferguson of a foul. While enabling the cross to reach the Brighton winger. But neither VAR nor referee Andy Madley thought he had been fouled.
“I felt contact, lost my boot and didn’t even see the goal,” the defender revealed to Viaplay.
“I hoped VAR would intervene and chalk off the goal, but unfortunately, the referee saw it differently.
“After we conceded the second our heads dropped and we couldn’t come back.”
Arsenal icon Vieira expressed his opinion that the goal should have been allowed by VAR. With Ferguson’s clip on Kiwior being considered unintentional.
He said: “I think the question that you need to ask is, is it intentional? And I don’t think that foul is intentional.”
