Arsenal Starter ‘Prioritises’ Summer Move To Barcelona – Aiming High

Arsenal Thomas Partey ‘prioritises’ a summer move to Barcelona.

That’s according to Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, which also discusses Barcelona’s position on signing the midfielder.

The Ghana international has fewer than three months remaining on his contract at Arsenal.

According to Mundo, unless something changes between now and the conclusion of the season, the 31-year-old will depart Arsenal as a free agent. His priority is to join Barcelona.

The La Liga heavyweights are aware of the Ghana international’s contract predicament with Arsenal. It creates a market opportunity for him, and Barcelona had him on their target list due to financial constraints.

This season, Mikel Arteta has played Partey in both his preferred role as a defensive midfielder and as a right defender. This season, he appeared in 43 games and started 36 of them.

Barcelona is seeking for a right-back to fill in for Jules Koundé, and Partey might be a possibility.

Marc Casadó, Marc Bernal, and Frenkie de Jong provide adequate coverage in the midfield for the Spanish giants. His ambition is to stay at the Camp Nou.

De Jong’s contract expires in 2026, and if he does not sign an extension, Barcelona will sell him. In that case, or if Barcelona requires a backup right-back, the Arsenal player can be considered a ‘wildcard option’ in the following window.
