William Saliba is expected to miss Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool, dealing the Gunners’ chances of winning the Premier League further blow.
Saliba is battling a back issue he sustained in the Europa League loss to Sporting Lisbon. Rob Holding was inserted into the starting lineup in the Frenchman’s place as he has been unable to train for the past two weeks.
The Arsenal have won both games without Saliba, albeit against strugglers Crystal Palace and Leeds.
However, the trip to Anfield will be far more challenging, especially as Liverpool are hoping to bounce back from their humiliating loss against Manchester City.
According to The Sun, it has been made further difficult as Saliba is required to watch that game from the stands. Mikel Arteta, the club’s manager, is refusing to take any chances and will keep Saliba on the sidelines until he is totally fit.
The 22-year-old sustained the issue when he landed awkwardly after contesting a header against Sporting.
William Saliba is set to miss Arsenal’s clash at Liverpool on Sunday as he struggles with a back injury. He’s not been able to train properly for the last few weeks. Hopes he’ll be back soon though. #AFC
