Youri Tielemans has conceded that life at Leicester is “tough” right now, with the club languishing at the bottom of the Premier League table.
The Foxes have lost six straight games and have only one point from their first seven top-flight games. The recent 5-2 and 6-2 losses away at Brighton and Tottenham, respectively, have put more pressure on manager Brendan Rodgers.
Tielemans had been linked to a move away from Leicester earlier in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal, who are currently leading the Premier League, were said to be interested in the Belgian. However, their interest waned later in the summer.
What Did Tielemans Say About Leicester Poor Form?
Now that the World Cup is approaching this winter in Qatar, Tielemans’ attention is focused on earning a berth in the Belgium team.
However, the Leicester midfielder claims it is challenging to ignore his club’s dismal domestic record even while on international duty.
“I’m happy to get a bit of fresh air here [with Belgium] because it’s tough at Leicester right now,” the midfielder said in a Belgium press conference.

“It’s clear that things are not going well at the club. We are doing everything we can as a team.
“At Leicester, the consecutive defeats have affected us as a group. We need to benefit from this break to recharge our batteries.
“It’s hard to get it off my mind as it keeps running through my head. Only my kids sometimes prevent me from thinking about it.”

The Belgian midfielder’s contract with Leicester is up at the end of the current campaign, but he chose to stay at the King Power Stadium.
Despite the club’s poor league standing, Tielemans believes he has no regrets about staying.
“I’m not going to speak too much about my contract situation at the moment,” he added. “I didn’t leave Leicester in the summer as I always said the project had to be the right one.
“Just because things are getting worse now at Leicester doesn’t mean I should regret [staying].”
