Arsenal Turn Down Ajax Approach For Ramsdale After Identifying Replacement

Arsenal have reportedly rejected Ajax’s bid to sign Aaron Ramsdale on loan.

After joining Arsenal for £30 million from Sheffield United in 2021, Ramsdale looked to have cemented the top slot. In his first two seasons in north London, the goalkeeper made 78 appearances.

However, there were questions when David Raya was signed by Arsenal on a loan last season and replaced the former Bournemouth shot-stopper in goal before joining the team permanently this summer.

Ramsdale featured in only six games in the Premier League last season. The 26-year-old is believed to be eager to play regularly for the first squad before the 2024–2025 season kicks off.

The Athletic as claimed by The Metro stated that Ajax, an Eredivisie are considering a bid for Ramsdale and they have gotten in touch with Arsenal about an initial loan for the goalkeeper.

But the Gunners, who are eager to move the England international on permanently before the transfer deadline, rejected this deal out of hand.

According to the source, if the Englishman manages to find a way out that works for all parties, Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, who competed for Spain in the Olympics and won gold, is being considered as a possible successor.

Ramsdale, who still has two years left on his current contract, did not play in either of Arsenal’s most recent preseason matches against Lyon or Bayer Leverkusen.
