Arsenal return to the UEFA Champions League today as they set to clash against French side, RC Lens in their first away game in Europe’s primary competition in over six years.
After playing five matches in 13 days, the Gunners begin a busy month of October with a trip to France in an effort to win back-to-back matches in the UCL.
Arsenal are expected to advance from the group stage after receiving a favorable draw, but the trip to France will provide some difficulties.
Franck Haise’s side haven’t lost in three games after beginning the season with four losses in their first five games.
The French outfit will attempt to cause an upset at the Estadio Bollaert-Delelis after drawing their opening match in the group stage at Sevilla.
According to Football London, Mikel Arteta has been left sweating over the injury status of two of his players, despite the return of Thomas Partey and Bukayo Saka.
The former has been out since last month with a groin injury. The injury occurred during training prior to the international break. And the player has been sidelined from the last six games as a result.
The latter suffered what seems to be a cramp in the north-London derby. Though, he played in the Gunners’ 4-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality. But later limped off late.
What Did Arteta Say About Saka Injury Status?
The England international is fine for the European match, Arteta has claimed: “He’s fine. He’s much better,” he said.
“It was a big knock but he has recovered well and trained with us today.”
