Arsenal Wants To Sign Spanish Midfielder To Replace Thomas Partey

Arsenal intends to sign Martin Zubimendi, a midfield player for Real Sociedad in order to replace Thomas Partey.

Arsenal may have high expectations for a new defensive midfield player and Football Insider reports that they are considering signing Zubimendi to take Partey’s spot.

Partey could quit the Gunners this summer despite being an important member of the team for the previous four seasons.

Given his history of injuries, the management may decide not to extend his contract when it expires in June of the next year. Throughout his tenure at the team, the Ghanaian has missed over 70 games.

A better option to replace the former Atletico Madrid player would be Zubimendi. The 25-year-old’s superb air presence and close ball control have drawn attention.

He has already drawn comparisons to Sergio Busquets due to his intense work ethic and skill as a passer of the ball.

According to Kieran Tierney, Zubimendi is a “world-class” player, but it remains to be seen if Sociedad will allow the midfield player to depart.

The Spaniard intended to play Champions League football with the La Liga team last summer, thus he had no desire to leave.

Since then, he has reaffirmed that he is not seeking a new challenge and Imanol, the manager of Sociedad has stated that he is certain Zubimendi will remain with the team for the upcoming campaign.

Although Arsenal has the money to activate his £51 million release clause, a transfer ultimately hinges on getting the midfield player’s approval.

If Zubimendi does not modify his transfer stance, the Gunners ought to move on to other targets, reports Football Talks
