Arsenal are reportedly considering a swoop for Newcastle United forward, Alexander Isak in the summer transfer window. However, according to London World, Barcelona have entered the race to prise the Sweden international away from St. James’ Park.
Isak is viewed by the Camp Nou team as a possible long-term replacement for the 35-year-old Polish sensation Robert Lewandowski, according to reports from SunSport. It’s also said that with Financial Fair Play rules approaching, the Magpies will be more likely to sell one of their best players to balance the books.
Newcastle know that not selling some of their most prized assets could have similar consequences to Everton and Nottingham Forest, who have already been docked points for violating Profit and Sustainability rules.
The 24-year-old Swede is reportedly open to a deal with Barcelona, despite Newcastle’s £90 million price tag.
With Mikel Arteta hoping to strengthen the forward line, Arsenal will now need to give their transfer targets top priority if they want to sign Isak before the start of the following season.
If Arteta loses the title match once more, finding a new striker will be a top priority this summer. Even though the Gunners are now leading the table, Manchester City will have two games in hand over the Emirates club by the end of the week.

Arsenal had thoroughly scouted Isak prior to his final transfer to St. James’s Park in 2022. He also played for Borussia Dortmund before being sold to Real Sociedad for €15 million.
The striker has made 44 appearances for his nation, scoring 10 goals. And in just 24 games for Newcastle this 2023–24 season, he has already notched 17 goals.
