ARTETA IS MINDFUL AFTER AN UNUSUAL GABRIEL JESUS MOMENT IN ARSENAL’S WIN

Mikel Arteta is worried after Gabriel Jesus was injured for Arsenal on Tuesday night.

After losing their previous Champions League game against Lens, Arsenal traveled to Spain to face Sevilla.

Arsenal passed the test admirably, with Jesus pulling off a fantastic turn and ball to set up Gabriel Martinelli’s goal.

Jesus then took over as the goalkeeper, bending a magnificent strike into the top corner of Orjan Nyland’s net.

Sevilla pulled a goal back through Nemanja Gudelj, but it wasn’t enough as Arsenal won 2-1 in Andalusia.

Mikel Arteta concerned about Gabriel Jesus injury

It wasn’t all good news for Arsenal though as Jesus picked up an injury.

The Brazilian striker was substituted with just about 10 minutes to play, seemingly picking up a muscle problem.

Arsenal boss Arteta spoke to TNT Sports after the final whistle and admitted his concern about Jesus.

Arteta admitted that Jesus ‘felt something’ in his hamstring and that Arsenal will assess the extent of the injury in the coming days.

Arteta added that Jesus immediately asked to be substituted, which is unusual for the former Manchester City striker as he never really does that even when carrying an injury.

“He felt something in his hamstring so let’s see,” said Arteta. “He straight away asked to be subbed which is not good news because Gab is not a player that does that at all so we’ll have to wait and see in the next few days,” he added.

The news about jesus’ injury will fuel speculation about strikers.

Jesus demonstrated his Champions League quality against Sevilla, and fans would have expected him to build on his goal and assist.

However, Jesus appears to be on the sidelines for the time being, and rumors of Arsenal buying another striker are certain to resurface.

Ivan Toney is one target for the Gunners, according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims Arsenal have already inquired about a deal for the Brentford forward.

That can only happen in January, and while Jesus will undoubtedly return before then, another injury leaves the Gunners short on top.

That could entice Arteta to make a huge January move, and Toney will be one of Arsenal’s top options.
