Mikel Arteta is lining up a £25million move for Ajax winger Quincy Promes, according to reports.
The Gunners have were linked with the 28-year-old last year after his impressive form for Sevilla but he instead moved to Ajax for £14million after the Dutch side sold Frenkie de Jong.
But The Sun report that Arteta has identified Quincy as the man to kick-start his Arsenal revolution with former Chelsea star Willian also set to sign in the next few days.
Promes scored 12 goals and made four assists in the league before the Dutch Eredivisie campaign was cancelled in April.
The winger also has 42 caps for Holland was grabbed the third goal against England in the semi-final of the Nations League as Gareth Southgate’s team were beaten 3-1 last summer.
Liverpool were linked with a move in 2017 while he was plying his trade at Spartak Moscow with Jurgen Klopp admitting he admired the player.
But Promes could yet get his move to England with the Dutchman seemingly keen on playing in the Premier League.
A source told The Sun: ‘Quincy would go in a heartbeat.
‘It would be a great move for him – and Arsenal.’
Arteta has begun his Arsenal rebuild after winning the FA Cup earlier this month.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is thought to be close to agreeing a new contract with the captain and leading goalscorer for the past two seasons a crucial part of the Spaniard’s plans.
Willian is set to arrive on a free contract after deciding to leave Chelsea with the Brazilian said to have undergone a medical ahead of signing a three-year deal.
But academy product Ainsley Maitland-Niles could be set to leave the Emirates after Arteta was forced to put the 22-year-old up for sale with Tottenham one of the clubs thought to be interested in making a move.
