Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta claims his side have to be near perfect as they are on the right trajectory after they were beaten to the Premier League title by Manchester City.
Two seasons in a row, Arsenal have challenged Man City for the Premier League title. And on both occasions, the Gunners have come in second.
Following City’s 3-1 victory over West Ham, Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Everton was rendered meaningless as Pep Guardiola’s team emerged victorious in the league by a margin of two points.
They appear to be unstoppable, and not even Arsenal’s incredible 2024 campaign was enough to overcome them.
Arsenal finished 2024 with just one loss and with 89 points all season, but they were unable to win their first league title since 2004.
Since Arteta was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Man City from 2016 to 2019, he is aware of how high their standards are.
According to Caught Offside, in his post-match press conference, the Gunners boss responded to a question about whether it would take 100 points to defeat Man City next season.
‘Yeah. I was there when we did 100 points, so I know what it takes. I know what happened and this is the level.

‘No one has to explain what the level is because I was there four years every day and I know what we have to do if we are going to reach there. Not only for one season, but for the rest, but we are on the right path.
“We’re on the right trajectory and now we need really to pull the teeth and bite into it because we really want more.”
