Mikel Arteta has revealed that he has been “surprised” by how quickly Gabriel Jesus has made an impression at Arsenal. On July 4, the Brazilian concluded his five-year stay with the Premier League champions Man City by moving to north London for £45 million ($55 million).
Jesus quickly won over Gunners supporters by scoring seven goals in five preseason games, including an incredible hat-trick against Sevilla that pleased Arteta.
What Did Arteta Say About The Influence Jesus Had On Arsenal?
Jesus will make his first competitive start for Arsenal when they kick off the new Premier League season away at Crystal Palace on Friday. Jesus previously worked with Arteta while the Spaniard was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City.

“When you bring top players from top clubs where they’ve been successful, they are going to expect pressure,” the Gunners’ manager said when asked about Jesus at the pre-match press conference.
“The role Gabby has here will be different to the role he had at City.
“That will take adaptation and time; he’s done it fantastically well and we are surprised how quickly he’s done it.”
What Did Arteta Have To Say About Signing More Players?
Oleksandr Zinchenko eventually followed Jesus from City to Arsenal, and the club also finalized deals for Marquinhos, Matt Turner, and Fabio Vieira, three players who are currently playing for the USMNT.
Along with a number of other well-known players, the Gunners have also been heavily linked with Youri Tielemans of Leicester City, and Arteta has revealed that more reinforcements are being sought before the transfer deadline of September 1.
“It’s always been my team,” he said. “We have changed the squad. The players we have are more specific and better to the way we want to play obviously.
