Since joining Villa Park on loan, the offensive midfielder has already enjoyed back-to-back accolades after winning the club’s award in February.
In March, Asensio made three appearances for the Villans, helping them advance to the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley and the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.
In the first leg of our round of 16 match in Belgium, the Spaniard came on as a substitute in the 64th minute and duly netted a late penalty to seal a 3-1 victory at Club Brugge.
Asensio then made his Premier League comeback by scoring a brace in the European return leg at Villa Park after missing the match against Brentford, reports Aston Villa.
He made an instant impression after being brought on at halftime and went on to score twice in 11 minutes to complete a 3-0 victory and a 6-1 overall triumph.
With Asensio playing 73 minutes at Deepdale, Unai Emery’s team then came back from a lull in the action to defeat Preston North End 3-0 in the FA Cup quarterfinals.
