Aston Villa Former Derby County prospect Archie Brown claims he has “no regrets” about leaving Pride Park and acknowledges his transfer abroad has put him in the spotlight.
Brown departed the Rams in 2021 to join Lausanne in Switzerland before transferring to Gent, where he has become a prized commodity.

Aston Villa, Chelsea, West Ham, and Crystal Palace have all expressed interest in the £17 million-rated left-back, who was recently called up to England’s Elite Development group. Brown, who left Derby to pursue first-team opportunities, says that his departure from the club was difficult at initially because it coincided with the outbreak of Covid.
“It was difficult, to be honest; I can’t sit here and pretend it was easy,” Brown told Sky Sports. “It was also around COVID, so I didn’t get to see as many folks as I would have liked. I believe the second season was a watershed moment for me; I accepted the culture and the lifestyle, which helped me grow as a player and a person.
Brown was a member of the Derby academy team that won the Under-18 Premier League title five years ago. The Rams defeated Arsenal 5-2 in the National Final at Pride Park, and playing for the Gunners that day was Bukayo Saka, who is now one of the greatest names in the top tier. However, Brown was the show’s star, having contributed to four of Derby’s goals and scoring two himself.
