Aston Villa have announced captain John McGinn has signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2027.
The 28-year-old’s previous contract was set to end in 2025, but he has now agreed to new terms that will keep him at Villa Park for a further two years.
McGinn was selected club captain by then-manager Steven Gerrard last summer, succeeding Tyrone Mings, and has remained a key part of the squad since Unai Emery’s arrival.
The Scotland international midfielder played in 36 matches across all competitions last season, contributing to Villa’s qualification for Europe with one goal and three assists in 34 Premier League games.
