Aston Villa will compete with Milan for Chelsea’s loan of Joao Felix during the January transfer window.

The Rossoneri are primarily searching for a new center-forward and have set their sights on Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord, but they may also add a creative midfield player to fill the trequartista position.

Given that his agency, Jorge Mendes, has extensive relations to Milan and also represents incoming coach Sergio Conceicao, Joao Felix was suggested as a possible possibility.

Due to their lack of playing time at Chelsea, the Serie A team hoped to negotiate a good loan deal by waiting until the very end of the transfer window.

They are up against competition, though, as RMC Sport reported today that Aston Villa is corresponding directly with Chelsea on the same transfer target.

The Premier League team is Milan’s greatest rival for Joao Felix’s services, while a number of other teams are also keen.

Since he makes €4.5 million a season, he would fall inside Milan’s budget for six months, reports Football Italia.

He was notably signed by Atletico Madrid from Benfica in 2019 for €127 million, but he was transferred to the Blues for €52 million following loan stints at Chelsea and Barcelona.
