Amad Diallo will fly to England in January to complete his transfer to Manchester United.
United agreed to sign the Atalanta teenager last summer in a deal worth €25m (£27.3m) plus add-ons.
But the club were waiting on Diallo to obtain his Italian passport, which would enable him to get a work permit, before moving to Manchester.
The Guardian confirms that Diallo has received the passport and plans have now been made for the 18-year-old to travel to England early next month.
The Ivorian has spoken with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is looking forward to starting his career at Old Trafford.
Diallo has made five appearances and scored one goal for Atalanta this season.
