Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa is being touted as a possible replacement for Jan Oblak, who looks set to leave Atletico Madrid next summer.
The Slovenian goalkeeper’s future with the La Liga team is in doubt because his contract expires at the end of the current campaign. Meanwhile, he hasn’t indicated that he wants to sign a new one, according to reports.
In order to avoid losing Oblak on a free transfer six months from now, Atletico Madrid may even contemplate selling him in January. Manchester United are one of many teams reportedly keeping an eye on his position.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Oblak was in negotiations for a new contract with Atleti. The contract would have kept him at the Spanish club until 2028, however, that deal never got signed.
Since joining Atletico Madrid in 2014, Oblak has established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world. Therefore, losing the 29-year-old would be a major loss to the Atletico Madrid team.

Martinez, though, has established himself as Argentina’s top goalkeeper. While also proving to be among the best in England since moving to Aston Villa.
If Oblak were to depart, the 30-year-old Argentine would be a good replacement. However, Atletico will be hopeful the Slovenian international decides to stay for a little longer.
