Thomas Lemar, an Atletico Madrid midfielder, has had a difficult year due to multiple injuries sustained as a result of an Achilles tendon injury. He is the only player in Diego Simeone’s team who has not made his debut yet, having gone 13 months without playing competitively.
Lemar did make some appearances in their preseason friendlies, but Diario AS reports that the Frenchman is training as usual with his teammates, rather than on a restricted schedule. The hope is that his leg will respond to the extra stress and hold up. He has not played since September 16th, 2023.

Los Rojiblancos opened the exit door for Lemar in the summer due to his high pay, but with his injury history, no bids were made.
Atletico will face Leganes this weekend, followed by Lille in the Champions League, Real Betis away, then Vic in the Copa del Rey. The latter may be Lemar’s greatest chance of getting back on the field. The 28-year-old is one of Simeone’s more technically proficient and forward-thinking midfielders, and his abilities would add something distinctive to his group.
