Chelsea’s Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed he was “sad” to to see Thomas Tuchel sacked as manager, six days after joining him at Stamford Bridge.
The 33-year-old, who played for Borussia Dortmund under Tuchel, was one of the German’s final additions before the transfer deadline.
However, his exit happened the morning after Aubameyang made his Chelsea debut in the Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in their first Champions League opener.
What Did Aubameyang Say About Tuchel?
Tuchel had backed Aubameyang to “create his own history” in the number nine jersey at the club. This was because the previous 11 players who had worn the shirt, including three club record signings, had struggled to make an impact.
Aubameyang described the last few weeks as “crazy weeks” due to the managerial switch from Thomas Tuchel to Graham Potter.
“Everyone knows the relationship that I have with Thomas,” Aubameyang said. “It’s obviously sad when someone leaves the club and I only saw him for a few days.
