Balotelli Names Manager As The ‘Worst Coach’ He’s Ever Had

Mario Balotelli has named Brendan Rodgers as the “worst coach” he’s ever played under and claimed he “was a disaster” as a person in a brutal dig at the former Liverpool manager.

The Northern Irishman took a chance on the former Manchester City star, and the two worked together for a year. Following Luis Suarez’s departure, Liverpool, in search of a new forward, decided to bring the agile Italian back to the Premier League in 2014.

Balotelli made a lackluster comeback after a drastically disappointing stint at Anfield. Just four goals in all, one in the league, came from him as Liverpool faltered and Rodgers came under increasing pressure. The following summer, the Italian went on loan to AC Milan, but after Jurgen Klopp arrived, he was let go.

According to The Mirror, Rodgers’ training philosophy has been praised by Balotelli, the player has acknowledged that he was impressed with the program. But the same cannot be said of their personal relationship.

What Did Balotelli Say About His Relationship With Rodgers?

Speaking to TVPlay, Balotelli said: “Brendan Rodgers is the worst coach I have ever had. He was number one as far as training sessions were concerned, what with keeping possession of the ball and the small-sided games. But as a person he was a disaster.”

Balotelli has previously aimed a dig at Rodgers, who has found success at Leicester City and Celtic after leaving Liverpool.

Instead of defending himself, the Northern Irishman has actually agreed with the Italian. Stating that the move didn’t work out for either of them because they don’t personally know each other.

Following his departure from Liverpool, Balotelli failed to establish a permanent stay, leading to his ongoing nomadic career.

The 33-year-old was moved to Marseille after making an impression at Nice. Since then, he has played in Switzerland, Russia, and Italy.
