Barcelona Approve Raphinha Transfer As Leeds Player Nears £65m Move

Barcelona has agreed to sign Raphinha from Leeds. The Catalan club will give the Premier League team an upfront payment of £55 million ($77 million), with an additional £10 million possibly arriving in the form of add-ons.

Raphinha is set to have his medical and sign his Barcelona contract, which would keep him at the club until 2027, on Wednesday, as he prepares to transfer to La Liga.

Despite being courted by Chelsea as well, he ultimately decided to quit the Premier League after two years in England.

A Closer Study Of The Deal

Raphinha’s move to Barcelona has been in the works since Sunday, with the winger having his heart set on the club despite previous links to Chelsea.

The Brazilian had a choice of clubs to join after receiving a similar offer from the Blues and Barcelona.

He ultimately decided on Barca, with agent and former player for both clubs Deco handling the deal. Raphinha will now make twice as much money as he did while playing for Leeds.

The winger initially signed with Leeds in 2020 after making a name for himself with French club Rennes in 2019–2020.

He appeared in 67 games for the club, scoring 17 goals during his stint in England.

Raphinha made his mark with the Brazilian national team as well, gaining each of his nine caps since moving to Leeds.
