Barcelona have reportedly confirmed that Fermin Lopez will be on the sidelines for three weeks due to a thigh injury he sustained during a training session with Spain Under-21 on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old returned to Barcelona later than his colleagues since he had a hectic summer representing Spain at both the Olympics and Euro 2024, helping the national team win both competitions.
Fermin has played for his club three times this season, coming off the bench against Athletic Bilbao, Rayo Vallecano, and Real Valladolid in La Liga. During the current international break, Fermin was scheduled to play for Spain’s Under-21 team against Scotland’s Under-21 and Hungary’s Under-21 sides.
According to Sport Mole, the midfielder injured his thigh during a Tuesday training session. And Barca have now disclosed that the Spaniard would be out for approximately three weeks.
“The tests carried out have shown that Fermín Lopez has a muscle injury in the anterior rectus of the left thigh. The approximate downtime will be around three weeks,” read a statement on Barcelona’s official website.

After breaking through into the Barcelona first team squad the previous season, Fermin had a successful campaign, making 41 appearances for the team across all competitions and scoring 11 goals.
Fermin would miss Barcelona’s next three league games against Girona, Villarreal, and Getafe in addition to their Champions League opening against Monaco due to a three-week recuperation period that would last until September 25.
