Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has confirmed that the club have notified Villarreal that they want to resign Denis Suarez this summer.
The Catalan giants are renowned for often letting some of their talented youngsters to move, but they usually almost always instill a buy-back clause just incase those players turn out to be the real deal.
And that has proven the case with young Suarez, who was possibly Villarreal’s best player in La Liga this season under highly-rated tactician Marcelino.
The 22-year-old, who spent four years with Manchester City, before Barcelona signed him up in 2013 and deployed him in their youth side for two years.
Suarez ended up going out on loan to Sevilla and after a few months there, he joined Villarreal on a permanent deal.
However, Fernandez admits that the club have told the Yellow Submarine they want the winger back and it seems as though a deal will happen on July 1, when the transfer window reopens.
Suarez’s potential arrival highlights the sort of power Barcelona have within their club, with the Catalan giants able to lure a number of Europe’s finest to the Camp Nou.
Suarez was a regular for Villarreal in La Liga this season, playing in 33 top-flight matches and also helping the Spanish outfit reach the Europa League semi-finals.
