It’s no secret that Barcelona is looking for attacking reinforcements to replace Robert Lewandowski on a long-term basis.
In recent weeks, the Catalans have been linked with a number of great forwards, including Luis Diaz and Alexander Isak.
Barcelona has recently been connected with a move for Samu Aghehowa and Ademola Lookman, with the club willing to pay €100 million for the forward.
Barcelona considering a move for Neyser Villarreal
According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona is looking to add another striker in the form of Neyser Villareal.
Villarreal presently plays for Colombia’s top division club Millonarios. His exploits in his own country of Colombia have created quite an impression.
Villarreal was the best scorer in the last South American U20 Championship.
However, the adolescent attacking potential is presently feuding with Millonarios. He is not interested in extending his contract with the club and might depart for free when it ends in December.
That is where Barcelona enters the fray. The Catalans regard Villarreal’s current issue with Millonarios as a great market opportunity.
According to the story, a middleman has even called Barcelona to make an offer to the club. Meanwhile, sporting director Deco is weighing all of his possibilities and determining how to acquire the player.
The Club can move quickly to gain an advantage in the competition to sign Villarreal. In that circumstances, the Catalans are unlikely to have.
Alternatively, Barcelona can wait until the player’s contract expires, which is preferred by the attacker’s agents.
Whatever the case, it looks Barcelona is serious on signing Villarreal. It remains to be seen whether they can outbid their European rivals for the Colombian’s services.
