Barcelona President Joan Laporta maintains that work is on schedule for the club to return to Camp Nou by the end of 2024, but there are contradicting reports on how ready the stadium will be by then.
Last week, Laporta assured fans that work will resume before the end of the year, with the club eager to return due to the financial implications of playing at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic. While they would not be able to return with a full capacity at Camp Nou, not only are they paying Barcelona Council to play at Montjuic, but their attendance has been hit badly, with their current season-ticket holder numbers at less than a third of the usual Camp Nou numbers.

Bar Canaletes reports that the team is considering returning to Camp Nou in February with a capacity of 64,000 supporters, which would necessitate delaying the construction of the third tier and focusing all efforts on the first and second tiers. There would be no restrooms in the stadium; instead, they would be dispersed across the grounds. Giant screens would hide the work, but they would also save the club millions in rent at Montjuic.
Barcelona had planned to return to their home stadium around November 29th to honor the club’s 125th anniversary, but complications forced the plan to be shelved. This Monday, the Blaugrana received a month-long authorization from Barcelona Council to work on the stadium 24 hours a day in order to expedite the process and bring their return closer.
