FC Barcelona began the season with relatively low resources, having only made two new acquisitions in the previous summer transfer window, and a substantial portion of the Blaugrana squad being out due to injury.
Most of these wounded players have recovered fully in recent months, with just Marc Andre Ter Stegen and Marc Bernal still recovering from long-term injuries.
While the return of these players is definitely beneficial to Hansi Flick, it also poses a big dilemma.
Andreas Christensen was the most recent player to receive medical clearance to play, having recovered from a right soleus muscle ailment that had sidelined him for about a month.
With his return, Diario AS reports that Barcelona now has 25 players available, implying that at least two players would be dropped from the squad roster for the remaining games.
In La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, only 23 players can be called up, and in the Copa del Rey, the number is reduced to 22.

As it stands, three players with reserve team numbers are routinely called up to the main squad: Diego Kochen, Hector Fort, and Gerard Martin. So, the Blaugranes will have.
In this sense, there has already been one major casualty in the Barcelona team: Ansu Fati, who has struggled to make the squad since the Copa del Rey match against Barbastro on January 3rd. Pablo Torre was also kept out of the final game against Atletico Madrid.
With Christensen’s return, at least two players must be left off each squad roster. Fati is anticipated to keep one of these, while the other might be Torre or Christensen, depending on the team’s needs.
