Barcelona Eyeing Chelsea Pair Ahead Of January Transfer Window

Barcelona are reportedly willing to make a move to signing two Chelsea players, Carney Chukwuemeka and Romeo Lavia ahead of January transfer window.

Deco, the sporting director of Barcelona, is said to be showing interest in the two Chelsea midfielders.

After spending a significant amount of money during the summer transfer window, the Blues started the Premier League season with a bang.

Chelsea have not lost in the league since the first day of the season under new manager Enzo Maresca, who was recently crowned manager of the month for September.

Despite the good start, Maresca experienced some problems, chief among them being a sizable roster, which has prevented a number of players from seeing consistent action this season.

According to Spanish publication SPORT as reported by The Metro, Deco has scheduled loan moves for Lavia and Chukwuemeka in January

Barcelona wanted Lavia, who just recovered from a hamstring injury, before he moved to Stamford Bridge two summers ago.

In contrast, Chukwuemeka has just played 15 minutes of football this season—against Barrow in the Carabao Cup—and has not yet been added to Maresca’s regular matchday squad.

Barcelona lead La Liga after eight victories from their opening nine games. The Catalan club may require midfield reinforcement, due to injuries to Gavi, Fermin Lopez and summer acquisition Dani Olmo.

Although, the report also suggest that head coach Hansi Flick is not entirely persuaded that the team requires additional midfield cover.

The German plans to give 17-year-old Marc Bernal a chance after he recovers from injury and has been impressed by 21-year-old Marco Casado.
