While they are focusing on signing Nico Williams, Barcelona is also negotiating a deal with Dani Olmo, another of their major summer transfer targets. Deco, the club’s sporting director, has been charged with finalising the deal for the 26-year-old forward, who impressed for Spain at Euro 2024.
RB Leipzig are willing to trade Olmo if an offer in the area of €60 million – the player’s prior release clause – is received. MD said that Barcelona did match this amount, but it was refused.

Barcelona’s offer included a €40 million upfront payment, followed by €20 million in instalments. Leipzig believes it is insufficient, and they demand more monies in the immediate payment. Deco will continue to work on the contract to assure Olmo’s return to Catalonia this summer.
Despite Barcelona’s well-documented financial woes, the club has already committed to spending €118 million (Olmo €60 million, Williams €58 million) this summer, with no major revenue from player sales. In Olmo’s situation, it’s a lot of money for a guy who’s not absolutely necessary, especially because a new defensive midfielder is.
