Despite celebrating his 37th birthday in August, the prolific Pole is having the finest season of his brief Barcelona career.

Under Xavi Hernandez, Lewandowski guided the Catalan powerhouses to the 2022–2023 championship, but he suffered a marked decline in output and performance the previous season.

But the arrival of Hansi Flick, Lewandowski’s former manager of Bayern Munich, has given the revered forward new life.

According to SPORT, the authorities in Catalonia agree and have decided to offer Lewandowski a new contract.

This contract extends until 2027 after he plays 55% of the team’s games across all competitions, which is all but guaranteed given his participation in 34 of 37 games so far.

Flick has also reshaped Barcelona’s pressing scheme, effectively getting the tireless wingers to do Lewandowski’s running for him.

This new agreement is anticipated to aid the club’s fragile finances by distributing Lewandowski’s current pay between 2026 and 2027 rather than just extending it.

To further increase the Pole’s income, there will also be a number of attainable bonuses linked to goals and appearances, reports 90 min.
