Barcelona have been handed a major injury blow as Dani Olmo is reportedly set to be on the sidelines for a significant part of the season.
Since returning to the boyhood club he previously played for in La Masia before opting to become a professional in Croatia with Dinamo Zagreb, Olmo has been nothing short of extraordinary.
He completed a move from RB Leipzig this summer valued at almost €60 million in fixed fee and variables.
Despite the fact that registration problems delayed the 26-year-old’s debut, he has shown tremendous promise in the three games he has played so far in the 2024–2025 season.
In addition to scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 comeback and turning around the Blaugrana’s 1-0 deficit at Rayo Vallecano, he also scored in the 7-0 thumping of Real Valladolid at the Montjuic Stadium just before the international break.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, though, Olmo’s afternoon came to an end when he pulled up and Eric Garcia had to take his place less than 15 minutes to the end of the match.
Following the game, Flick acknowledged that his attacking midfield player had taken a knock. According to SPORT as reported by Forbes, the initial scans performed in the Montilivi locker room indicate a hamstring injury.

The club have now confirmed that Olmo will be absent for “approximately four to five weeks” due to a more significant niggle than first though, according to a test conducted at the Joan Gamper CT on Monday.
The first of the games Olmo would miss out on is Barca’s Champions League opener against Monaco at the Stade Louis II.
