Barcelona In Pole Position For €30 Million-Rated Centre-Back,Deco Handling The Negotiations

Jonathan Tah has become one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market, since his contract with Bayer Leverkusen is set to expire at the conclusion of the season.

The 28-year-old German international has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona, although Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Juventus, and, briefly, Real Madrid have all expressed interest.

In January, Tah will be free to discuss and sign a pre-contract deal with any club of his choice, and despite the enormous number of suitors, Barcelona appears to have an advantage.

Barcelona in pole place.

Indeed, according to Calciomercato, Barcelona are in pole position to sign Jonathan Tah on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.

This development follows claims that the Blaugrana’s sporting director, Deco, met with the centre-back and his representative in Leverkusen earlier this month.

Deco declined to comment on the meeting, but reports indicate that the discussions were positive. Tah was reportedly impressed by Deco’s project and may be considering a move to Barcelona. Juventus and Inter Milan are also interested in the German defender, who was part of Xabi Alonso’s Bundesliga-winning team last season.

However, with Deco leading negotiations for Barcelona, coupled with the demands made by Tah’s agents have led to the two Serie A clubs falling behind.

As such, everything suggests that Tah could be bound for Barça come summer when he becomes a free agent.
