Barcelona Keeping Tabs On 22-Year-Old Premier League Goalkeeper

Barcelona are reportedly monitoring Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper, Bart Verbruggen ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to SPORT as reported by Barca Universal, the Catalan club see the Netherlands international as a long-term solution for their goalkeeping department because of his impressive performances.

As of now, it is acknowledged that Barca are not in a rush for a change between the posts.

The club remain optimistic in Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s recuperation and plan to keep leaning on Wojciech Szczesny, who is expected to renew his contract for another season following his remarkable performances.

With this stability, Barcelona have time to thoroughly analyze their future goalkeeping options, and Verbruggen has emerged as a notable candidate.

Verbruggen, who is only 22 years old, is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young goalkeepers. Tall, quick, and a master at playing out from the back, his skill set is a wonderful fit with the Blaugrana outfit’s philosophy.

He is a perfect fit for Barca’s style, where goalkeepers are supposed to support the team’s build-up play, because of his ability to distribute the ball well and maintain composure under duress.

Barcelona’s scouts have been keeping a careful eye on his development, especially during the UEFA Nations League match between the Netherlands and Spain. While his performances for Brighton have not gone unnoticed.

A number of elite European clubs are keeping an eye on him due to his quick development. And his rising stature raises the possibility that he will be one of the most influential goalkeepers of the coming generation.
