A report from Diario SPORT has provided an update on the recruitment strategy of Barcelona in the goalkeeping department.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s return to form has been a breath of fresh air for the first squad. The German international has emerged as one of the top goalkeepers in Europe this season.

As a result, Barça sold Neto in the summer while backing Inaki Pena, their La Masia standout. Pena had previously spent time on loan at Galatasaray and is now Barcelona’s second choice goalkeeper this year.
The youngster stands a very good chance of becoming the cup goalkeeper for Barcelona.
The Catalans are now looking to tie Pena down to a new contract because of his tremendous potential.
The 23-year-old’s current Camp Nou contract ends at the conclusion of the current campaign, but the new agreement could see him remain at the club for much longer.
Arnau Tenas is a another young goalkeeper who is expected to have his contract at Barcelona extended. The 21-year-old is currently Blaugrana’s third-choice goalkeeper this season.
However many consider him to be one of Spain’s most brilliant upcoming shot-stoppers, some even referring to him as the “next Victor Valdes.”

Tenas’ current contract at Camp Nou is due to expire in 2023. However, a one-year contract extension that includes a two-year extension option is about to be activated by the Blaugrana for the youngster who is currently the captain of the Barça Athletic team.
The prospective contract extensions for both Tenas and Pena will go a long way in helping Barcelona reinforce the team’s future core and lay a solid foundation in the goalkeeping department for the years to come.
This is despite the fact that neither players have yet to make their senior debuts.
