According to MARCA, Barcelona is aware of the situation and is willing to increase Yamal’s salary because he is now a reference player for the first squad. The teenager presently earns one and a half million euros per year, and the Catalans are willing to increase his wage immediately.
Both the Catalan club and Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, agree that such an improvement is necessary. They will negotiate wage increases in the coming days, but they will also build the groundwork for the youngster’s new contract.
The possibility of such a renewal was discussed between the two sides during the previous renewal negotiations, and it was agreed that Yamal would sign his first professional contract when he turned 18. The economic circumstances of this new deal will now be more in line with the youngster’s success, providing him with a big financial increase.
